Most importantly, decide what the final image is to look like. E.g. business card, brochure, press release, website, poster, cinema advertising etc.
Speak to your ad department and ask EXACTLY what they need.
Ask if they need photographs or images on disc. Then ask what size images.
More input at this stage results in better results later on.
The best-planned pictures are generally the best.
Do not allow to be distracted - being photographed in front of an office full of colleagues is a recipe for disaster! and is not ideal for good results. Our studio, or anywhere else away from the office, is better.
Look the part! Whatever your occupation, look professional.
First impressions count. Your photograph may be the initial contact.
In a rush? Ask about our 'Lightning quick 30 minute business portrait service'.
If your profession allows, then a medium to dark business suit, white or blue shirt and plain coloured tie. For a more relaxed look, maybe a casual jacket with a polo shirt. Avoid patterns as solid colours work the best. Wear suitable trousers as they may be seen in some shots.
If you need a haircut, do it one week before your session - now is not the time to try out the mohican!
Generally, solid colours work best therefore try to avoid bold patterns and stripes, unless you prefer.
Darker clothes tend to minimise body size and lighter tones emphasise body size.
Long sleeved dresses & blouses are sometimes more flattering than sleeveless or short sleeves.
Plain coloured jacket/suit (does not have to be black!) Plain light blouse or top.
Simple and stylish jewellery and accessories.
Borrow from a good friend!
Under studio lights your make-up needs to be the same as if you were going somewhere nice!
